The web is based on a unique functionality, the possibility to navigate from a page to another using the Hypertext link. Without this function, all pages are lost in the web immensity, and it is impossible to get the famous synergy we appreciate when visiting a website, then another and another more…!

Even you get always the same action using a Hypertext link. It cans also give several other functions. But a link is always defined with the same unique style, the famous blue text.

Also, a subscription link, an update link, a delete link are all displayed in the same blue colour. In this way, it is difficult to encourage a surfer to click on a preferred link, because there is no difference between all of them, there are all similar.

The solution is to insert a picture including a Hypertext link. It means now, it is any more an ordinary link but it looks like a small advertise to make the surfer to do the expected action

Today, you can find this type of work everywhere. It is really efficient on the subscribe buttons as well as on the purchasing buttons.

Today, this technique is applied to several actions, and sometimes; it is difficult to make a difference between an essential action, a commercial one and a common one. This proliferation force now the web-designers to enforce their originality to make the difference, to define several actions attached to buttons.

But they have also to create amazing Templates. An original Template is one getting success, ergonomic and impressing as soon as possible the spirit. To do it, it is important to give priority to some graphic aspects (gleam, shadow, illustration) and to reflect to each part of the Template: header, logo and banner and for sure, on the buttons.

A button will be good integrated in a Template depending of its definition, it will be important to perform a good clicks rate. A perfect button will perform the best rate. On the web, many websites increase their click rate, using this rule and it is why you can today find lot of perfect buttons on the web.

The 80 Most Handsome + High Design Wall Stickers

Today, the design created on different types of bases, looks like an essential thing in our modern life. The design can be found on cars, wears (have a quick look on the last post dedicated to the t-shirts designs, click here to read this post), furniture, and today as well in our houses et particularly on walls.

The wall design can be defined under different forms : paintings, frames, combination of materials, as well as stickers. This fashion style took place everywhere, for few years now, in houses, shops, public places…but what is exactly a wall sticker, and where does this trend come from ?

The decorative wall design appears for the first time in year 2005, in the deco-publications.
A part of people worships it, the rest of them hates it, but for both of them, it does let them incurious….

To uncover the mystery of stickers universe, I am going to explain to you the principal steps of their manufacturing and giving you addresses of some good shops…. I will take my attention on the monochromatic sticker because main of visuals created with this support are much more interesting than visuals created by pressing.

Their manufacturing in based on scissor vectored visuals, with help of cut-plotter.
A plotter is a bit similar to a printer, with a cutter taking place of printing heads.
This tool allows the cut of vinyl matching with the vector model.

The technical method…

To start, I use a bitmap vector picture or an original creation, then, I work under Illustrator. Each file has to be concluded in a draw mode, because it is the path used by the plotter for the cut..

As soon as the vinyl is cut, remove the unused pieces, this is named “tree-pruning”.
A film transfer is finally applied on the sticker, it will make the lay up easier

For some years now, shops of T-shirts design on the web, regular open and close one after the other.The success of some of them stimulate webmasters to open their own shop, believing to get same success. As references in this activity, we can notice i.e. Theadless or Spreadshirt.

To come back in the past, read these few lignes to understand what has been the start point of tihs activity : the first skillscreen printed t-shirts, named Designs, appears long time ago and were used to support slogans or comic sentences or drumbeats. The emergence of the web helped to sell these t-shirts in massive doses and covering a national market area, then, it as been possible for these shops to offer more and more different designs with a better quality and work.

Resulting of the success met by some of them, the big possiblity of business still free, lot of managers decided to open their own shop.
Today, the businness on the web saturated and you can find about a hundred or why not thousands of t-shirts shops located around the world, meaning even more and more models as well as customers.

Regarding the situation, it is difficult or impossible for a fan of t-shirts to list all of them existing on the market and to make the best choice.

Myself, as a fan of t-shirts, I decided to select the best of the best, I found on this market place. Then, I visited around 50 shops and I made a selection of more than 200 different t-shirts, I believe you will like.

This selection give you the possibility, with an overview restricted to one page, to make your own choice to keep the best of the best.
A good opportunity for webdesigners to get a design collection and get inspiration.

20 incredible examples of smooth horizontal and vertical sliding navigation websites

There is an effect that I especially love on the websites, I don’t know if you have ever seen this effect often used for portfolios or photographic galleries, I can name it a smooth sliding navigation.

This concept is to put a lot of content, generally a bio, references lists, services, and a contact form on a same page but separated by a large space. The result is a very very long page … not really easy to browse it, but you can switch the steps with a menu and with a sliding animation.

The must on these websites:

You can load the website just one time and you can browse it really fast after its upload
You can separate the different parts of the page with different universes
You can create a really KISS website (easier using and reading)

Ok it’s my mind, I find this effect really cool, and my future website (my portfolio) will use this sliding effect!

Showcase of Inspirational Surreal Paintings

Surrealism is borned in the 20’s, started by Andre Bretton and made by famous artists like Dali, Miro and Magritte.

The belief of surrealist works contain elements of surprise that depict the abstract and the psychological. Many Surrealist artists (and also writers) feel their work is an expression of philosophical movement.

Surrealism’s impact in the visual arts movement used techniques from Dadaism (example using photomontage, collage and assemblage), exposed psychological meanings of images by changing ordinary objects out of their normal significance, creating a meaning beyond ordinary formal organization, in order to evoke psychological “emotions” from the viewer. The Surrealist technique stood for abstract and the psychological and came at a time in the modern period of art, where artwork reached into the psyche and depicted individuality.

Even though the Surrealist group broke up 20 years later, individuals are still making painting references towards this artistic movement and below are the most interesting pictures I found on Deviantart.

Alot of the images below were inspired by Salvador Dali, probably the most recognisable face in modern art. It’s difficult to sum up Dali in a paragraph, but he was a (mad) genius who used the media to promote himself as a showman, he looked at his surroundings differently, gave objects personal meaning and had the artistic accomplishments of a skilled draftsman. For me, his greatest works were in a series of paintings he made around the age of 25 when he was just starting to become popular. I’d suggest taking a look the following works by Dali: The Lugubrious Game, The Great Masturbator and the famous The Persistence of Memory.
