by 2E Editorial in Firefox, Tools
Firefox is a great browser for all who conduct research on the Internet. Firefox has cool thousands of add-ons to customize and improve your web browsing experience, all add-ons are distributed in multiple categories like blogging, tools, entertainment, humor, news, security and more.
Here is list of top 20 superb Firefox add-ons that from web designer to every internet user should know!
ReadIt Later
Read It Later allows you to save pages of interest to read later. It eliminates cluttering of bookmarks with sites that are merely of a one-time interest.
Session Manager
Session Manager saves and restores the state of all windows – either when you want it or automatically at startup and after crashes. Additionally it offers you to reopen (accidentally) closed windows and tabs.
Tab Mix Plus
Tab Mix Plus enhances Firefox’s tab browsing capabilities. It includes such features as duplicating tabs, controlling tab focus, tab clicking options, undo closed tabs and windows, plus much more. It also includes a full-featured session manager.
Delicious Bookmarks
Delicious Bookmarks is the official Firefox add-on for Delicious, the world’s leading social bookmarking service (formerly del.icio.us). It integrates your bookmarks and tags with Firefox and keeps them in sync for easy, convenient access.
Speed Dial
With Speed Dial, you can easily access your most used websites. To show the Speed Dial tab, use the Speed Dial button (which can be added to the toolbar), or enter “chrome://speeddial/content” in your location bar.
Personas
Personas are free, easy-to-install “skins” for Firefox that make changing the look of the browser as easy as changing your shirt. With Personas, you can individualize your browser with hundreds of artist-created designs or create your own design to share with a worldwide audience of millions.
Flash Got
Download all the links, movies and audio clips of a page at the maximum speed with a single click, using the most popular, lightweight and reliable external download managers.
NoScript
Winner of the “2006 PC World World Class Award”, this tool provides extra protection to your Firefox. It allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice, e.g. your home-banking web site, guarding your “trust boundaries” against cross-site scripting attacks (XSS) and Clickjacking attempts, thanks to its unique ClearClick technology.
Down Them All
DownThemAll is all you can desire from a download manager: it features an advanced accelerator that increases speed up to 400% and it allows you to pause and resume downloads at any time.
Tumblr Post
This extension lets you post photos, videos, mp3s, quotes or links to your Tumblr account by dragging the content to the Tumblr icon that this extension adds to your statusbar.
Fire FTP
FireFTP is a free, secure, cross-platform FTP client for Mozilla Firefox which provides easy and intuitive access to FTP servers.
Twitter Fox
TwitterFox is a Firefox extension that notifies you of your friends’ status on Twitter. This extension adds a tiny icon on the status bar which notifies you when your friends update their tweets. Also it has a small text input field to update your tweets.
Clipmarks
Instead of linking to entire web pages, Clipmarks lets you clip exactly what you want others to see. Our browser add-on lets you save and share what you’re reading on the web with greater precision than is possible with links. There are lots of things you can do with your clips:
Your clip collection is accessible from any computer with an internet connection, including your iPhone, Blackberry, or other mobile device.
ColorZilla
Advanced Eyedropper, ColorPicker, Page Zoomer and other colorful goodies. With ColorZilla you can get a color reading from any point in your browser, quickly adjust this color and paste it into another program….
HTML Validator
HTML Validator is a Mozilla extension that adds HTML validation inside Firefox and Mozilla. The number of errors of a HTML page is seen on the form of an icon in the status bar when browsing.
Web Developer
The Web Developer extension adds a menu and a toolbar with various web developer tools.
Seo Quake
Seoquake is a Mozilla Firefox SEO extension aimed primarily at helping web masters who deal with search engine optimization(SEO) and internet promotion of web sites. Seoquake allows to obtain and investigate many important SEO parameters of the internet…
Screengrab
Screengrab! saves webpages as images…
It will capture what you can see in the window, the entire page, just a selection, a particular frame… basically it saves webpages as images – either to a file, or to the clipboard.
Abduction
Capture an entire web page or part of a web page and save it as an image.
For the sake of making this extension findable: This extension takes screenshots of websites.

AdBlock Plus should be included. It is excellent for keeping the obnoxious clutter to a minimum.
The standard filtering packages can be modified to add an additional filter or exclude something that you wish to view.

I find that for taking screenshots, Fireshot is the best by far. Also, I can’t live without Mouse Gestures Redox, saves a great deal of motion and time.

Yes. Firebug is definitely a ‘mega’ addon missing from the list esp. for developers. Plus there are more addons built on top of firebug like yslow, firephp, code finder etc…
Also, check out an addon called Feedly for your RSS feeds, found it great.

There is one other add-on offered at the Mozilla site that from a developers standpoint that take all of the guesswork out of sizing for the internet. The plug-in is MeasureIt. By draging the crooshairs over anything that appears in your browser MeasureIt will provide the dimensions. Great fro sizing and CSS.

Love ReatItLater, it is extremely useful when I’m stumbling or tweeting. Just store it and read it later when I have spare time.
Also find FireBug useful, but don’t know why it is not in the list. Love NoScript, it keeps my browser safe from bad sites contain mailware.
