sociodesign & seadesign are photograph sites that produce such moods that you really just stare at the pictures as apposed to assessing content. I would love to have a stab at designing something like this. Though i’m sure just as hard as designing more content rich sites.
Not sure metagramme belongs on the list since it seems his site is all done in flash, so its not really a “background image” imho. Otherwise nice list, good job!

Eventually, web sites began to give more focus to attracting visitors and getting these visitors to take action. I love them all. I’m not sure it’s going to be the case for B2B clients. They like “literal” biz representation. I could see how a single, powerful image for a client in the entertainment or travel industry would see its artistic value as impactful.
I’m not sure how it makes a difference whether a site is done in Flash or not. Those are all jpeg images on my site. The method of production isn’t really pertinent to sites on this list, right?
