Nice post has some good examples.
Don’t forget about Serial Cut! I love their design – http://serialcut.com/
Don’t think I know a single one on the list. But I know one minimalistic sites which have won the FWA award and more. I believe it belongs one the list
check it here http://www.normann-copenhagen.com/
also companywake.com
http://www.jodyferry.com is a nice and simple one.
sociodesign & seadesign are photograph sites that produce such moods that you really just stare at the pictures as apposed to assessing content. I would love to have a stab at designing something like this. Though i’m sure just as hard as designing more content rich sites.
Not sure metagramme belongs on the list since it seems his site is all done in flash, so its not really a “background image” imho. Otherwise nice list, good job!
http://www.alexafalcone.com is also a good, sleek minimalist site!
Eventually, web sites began to give more focus to attracting visitors and getting these visitors to take action. With a lack of detailed tracking, these marketing efforts were difficult to measure and adjust. The booming market in search advertising helped fuel the creation of modern analytics software which gave web sites the ability to segment their audience and truly evaluate their marketing campaigns. This not only gave advertisers a level of tracking unavailable in any other form of advertising, it also furthered the science of creating web sites by giving designers a better understanding of how to build sites for maximum effectiveness.
nice and best site

Beautiful sites – now that people are using such large images, it opens up possibilities for us designers. Yay!
These websites are Inspiring. I’m going to propose a similar concept to one of my clients. Thanks for the list!

I love them all. I’m not sure it’s going to be the case for B2B clients. They like “literal” biz representation. I could see how a single, powerful image for a client in the entertainment or travel industry would see its artistic value as impactful.
I’m not sure how it makes a difference whether a site is done in Flash or not. Those are all jpeg images on my site. The method of production isn’t really pertinent to sites on this list, right?
At any rate, thanks for the link. Great list.
Simplicity is Beautiful!
Soo lovely!
