Has anyone tried viewing their side bars under a low resolution like 1024×768? They can look a bit crappy. Especially if half of an e-mail address or contact information is showing.
Still some really nice designs!

What Steve [May 21st, 2009] said. I use 1280×800px, which I know is very popular, and I come across a lot of Twitter pages that are poorly designed, obviously by someone with much higher res who has no idea how page design and backgrounds really work (or perhaps they don’t care).
Most people won’t see what they’ve written ‘below the fold’ or to the right, where these design elements can be hidden behind the Twitter content area or be blown off the page altogether. When I see one of these poorly designed (and ugly, as a result) pages, I tend to back right out. Rarely do I bother to right-click and view the background just to be able to read contact info or some ironic horn-tooting about web design skills.
Some of this stuff can be more negative than positive for your business. Keep it to under 150×550px (left only) and you’ll actually reach more people. If you must post an entire resume or contact list, do so offsite and use a simple link. (It’ll be easier on those who might rather copy and paste info anyway.)
Peter Nudo [May 21st, 2009] has a nice approach that I’ve seen before – there is a logo, but it’s integrated into the background so that if it’s obscured a bit, it’s not to his detriment, as would be half an e-mail address.
The take-away: You can certainly have a theme going, but don’t overwhelm your viewer, and take a look at your page at different sizes (simply resize your browser) before walking away.

Also, different browsers display Twitter pages slightly differently. Something to think of before trying to add extra little elements near the Twitter logo and top navigation links. What looks good in Firefox will be iffy in IE, and downright sloppy in others; again, this is also affected by screen resolution.

Peter McClean [July 14th, 2009] – indeed snazzy, but what does “Making today the yesterday” mean? I have a feeling there’s some text below that, but many/most visitors will not see it.
